Getting around Costa Blanca

Coach Tours
Tourists who have arrived on package holidays will find that there holiday rep will usually arrange various half, full day and longer coach tours. These are also available from local travel agents

Buses
Regular bus services run between towns. Bus services

Trains Costa Blanca
A regular narrow cauge train / tram service runs from Alicante to Denia stopping at most towns. FGV train/tram

Trains Spain
The national rail network connects Alicante to the rest of Spain via inland lines to Murcia, Valenciaor Madrid National Trains
Bikes
Hire a bike for a day or two. Check with your hotel or apartment reception. There are also Downhill bike tours organised. You are taken up into the hills and it's mostly downhill all the way back

Alicante is the main town with millions of tourists going through it's Airport for the Costa Blanca resorts.The Santa Barbara castle is a major attraction

Inland

Away from the coast you will find citrus and olive groves and very scenic hilltop and mountain side villages as you head into the rugged mountainous interior

Algar River on Horseback


  • Why not try a little trot upstream surrounded by wonderful mountain scenery? Whether you are an expert Amazon or a complete novice.
  • You can now get in the saddle and enjoy a pleasurable jaunt in the company of guides and teachers.

Algar Waterfalls

  • The El Algar Waterfalls are only a couple of kilometres from the algar village with a car park near the falls.
  • Coach tours visit the falls from some of the coastal resorts

Altea

  • A small quaint town.
  • Good views are from the top of the steps leading to the old town with it's beautiful church and square
  • Attractive fishermen’s quarter

Denia

  • Denia now a thriving tourist resort, but much quieter than Benidorm.
  • Denia is also a centre for the raisin producing area around the town.

Desafio Medieval, The Robin Hood Show


  • Desafio Medieval show of Robin Hood, is located between Benidorm and Alea at Alfa del Pi
  • You Eat your medieval banquet whilst you watch the spectacular fighting, swordmanship, horse riding and jousting.
  • Being a medieval banquet you eat using your fingers.

Cala Finestrat


Situated just inland from Benidorm. This village has a cove at sea level and the backdrop of the 1410m high mountain Campana.

Guadalest


Guadalest a beautiful fortified village with a Moorish castle visited by around 2 million visitors a year.Famous for The Asuncion's white bell tower perched on the top of a spectacular rock.

Gata de Gorgos


Located on the River Gorgos, the town is the destination of the Lemon Express train

The old town is well known for its local crafts which include basket & wicker work and the handmaking of guitars. Gata de Gorgos has many craft shops and the ideal place to buy some souveniers

Shopping

. Benidorm is the main shopping resort and shopping trips to Valencia are done by many of the tour operators. Elche is a shoe manufacturing area and many trips to Elche include a factory and factory shop visit where shoes are at a very good price

Costa Blanca

  • Beautiful beaches, either quieter resorts or legendary vibrant nightlife resorts such as Benidorm, much of which is tailored for the British tourist.
  • Spanish tapas bars, restaurants offereing traditional seaside food - fish and chips are along side continental and oriental restaurants.

Valencia

Spain's third largest city. Not actually in the Costa Blanca but to the North of Benidorm and within easy reach by tour coach car or bus. See it's cathedral , culture,  charm, footbal stadium shops, and Lladro's a porcelain manufacturer.
Las Fallas festival. burning of the carton effigies. With the burning of the carton effigies, firework displays,colourful processions, flower and brass bands.

A mountain village, famous for it's delicious sausages.

Albir


Albir a good selection of restaurants, shops and bars. A more relaxing resort with a shelving pebble beach.. Albir is 6 kilometres north of Benidorm

  • Polop is a village 10 kilometres inland.
  • It's north of Benidorm and east of Altea
  • Polop has an amazing fountain with 221 jets of water.
  • Good view from the cemetry on top of the hill.

Alicante Airport


The main airport for the Costa Blanca is Alicante Airport

Murcia, Airport


Murcia, San Javier Airport is on the coast 70 kilometres south of Alicante

Murcia, San Javier Airport is ideal for Torrevieja to the north of the airport and suitable for San Pola further North still but Alicante airport is nearer to San Pola.

To the South of the airport is the city of Cartagea

Valencia Airport


Valencia Airport is located North of the Costa Blanca and is an alternative to the Northern resort of Denia
