Santa María Basílica
- Originally in this location was the Mosque of the Muslim city.
- The Mosque was consecrated as a Church dedicated to Saint Mary (Maria) after James I captured the city from the Moors in
- The current Basílica Santa María (built from 1672 till 1784) & is an amazing unique mixture of architectural styles, that include Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance
- The main entrance, is in Baroque style, and is amazingly beautifully decorated
Santa María Basílica Bell Tower
- A visit to the Santa Maria Bell Tower is a must, but you need to be reasonably fit, because there are 170 stairs to the roof, less to visit any any of the 4 floors where seats are available on some of them to rest.
- The views from the roof are amazing and 2 coin operated telescopes are available.
- The floors each have a number of interesting exhibits & photographs.
- There is a small entrance fee.
